No effort is made to avoid cross contamination at the buffets. However, if you have celiac disease, I do not believe you can safely eat here. This worked out well for me because a small amount of cross contamination usually doesn’t bother me. The staff walked me around the buffets and told me which options were safe and which were not.

There were gluten free options at the buffets and one or two at the restaurants. I have to avoid eating gluten I have a sensitivity to wheat but do not have celiac disease. Restaurants require a reservation in advance, so either use the app or see the concierge about reservations right away when you arrive. For dinner, your options are either a buffet or one of the many restaurants scattered throughout the property. For lunch, you have the option of two different buffets or a variety of snack bars scattered around the pool and beach areas. Food: breakfast is a buffet in the Paraiso Maya (same area as the La Marina). They even left little towel animals for us, which our kids loved. After that first day, housekeeping did a much better job. I had to call the desk and ask to have the sheets changed, which did happen after that point. After our room had been cleaned, I looked at the spot where the stain had been the previous night and saw it still there the sheets had not been changed. Since it was late, we opted to just go to sleep and request that the housekeepers change the sheets the next day by placing a card on the bed as instructed. On our first night, I noticed a stain on our sheets. Beds in our suites were on the firm side. Each room had its own bathroom containing a large shower and a jacuzzi tub, a sitting area with a small couch, and a balcony with a hammock and some chairs. Rooms: we had the largest family junior suites, which consisted of one room with a king bed with connecting doors to another room with two double beds. We traveled with a large family group, 6 adults and two kids. We stayed at the Paraíso Maya from June 5-10, 2023. I would definitely come back and enjoy this place. The wedding package kept surprising us with what all was included. Our maid, Minerva, made cute animals out of towels and left rose petals on our bed every day. We had a romantic dinner at Olivetti and the Sous Chef, Filipe, was terrific and introduced himself to us. They made us feel like royalty the entire time. All of the staff at this resort were extremely friendly. Filiberto and Pablo, the best bartenders, were our favorites at the Maya pool. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were well taken care of. Edgardo Garcia was our concierge and he was outstanding. I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about. The food, reception, ceremony - everything was beautiful. Rodrigo the DJ had the best playlist from our song choices and people literally didn't stop dancing for three straight hours.

She is the most professional person I've worked with in her field. Mariela made sure every detail was taken care of. Mariela Galarza was the wedding planner and her staff were superb! Especially Tania. We had 25 people attend our wedding on June 3, 2023. We got married at the Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya and it was truly amazing.
